Gridraven and E-REDES Collaborate on DLR Pilot to Boost Wind Generation in Portugal’s Distribution Grid

Gridraven has joined forces with E-REDES, Portugal’s distribution system operator, to launch a Dynamic Line Rating (DLR) pilot on multiple lines operating at 30 kV and 60 kV in the distribution grid. The project aims to demonstrate DLR’s potential to optimize grid capacity and enable a higher share of wind generation in Portugal’s energy mix.

By deploying DLR with span-level resolution, Gridraven provides real-time monitoring and adjustment of the line’s capacity, adapting to environmental conditions to maximize efficiency. This pilot showcases how DLR can enhance the distribution grid’s ability to accommodate increased renewable energy, particularly from wind sources, paving the way for a more sustainable and flexible energy system in Portugal.
